The people behind the Big Idea
Like all the best ideas, What’s The Big Idea was cooked up over a couple of beers. It’s the mad idea of two blokes from a quirky village in the far south of Sydney called Bundeena - John Allsopp and Nick Galvin (well, mostly Nick really, John just went along with the idea - after a couple of beers it seemed like a good one).
The concept is simply to bring amazing ideas to interested people in a convivial setting. They might be ideas about science or art or politics or philosophy or … well, whatever, really.
We have our own thoughts about what might make a good session but we want to hear from you about what ideas you think are important and who you want to hear.
Let us know through this website - you can contribute to the blog right here. Or contact us via the “contact” page and give us your thoughts. If it’s really cool we might even buy you a beer
So, just what’s the idea behind the Big Idea?
The What’s The Big Idea idea is simple. Beautifully simple, we think.
Each session we take one Big Idea then add one exceptional, entertaining, thought-provoking, surprising, challenging and amazingspeaker.
After feasting on the wonderful Chinese food at Bundeena’s Club Bundee you’ll get to hear the speaker tackle the Big Idea for about 45 minutes and then ask somequestions.
And afterwards you can contribute your own ideas about the Big Idea on this site. Write your own responses, debate, dispute, discuss and suggest topics for the next Big Idea.
